  • Are my halogen light bulbs dangerous?

    In general, halogen lights are not dangerous when installed correctly. Typical house fires caused by halogen lights are due to some type of combustible material being placed over the lights. Halogen bulbs give off a lot of heat so it is good practice to keep combustible materials a safe distance away.

  • What are the best light bulbs for energy efficiency?

    LED bulbs are the most energy efficient light bulbs available on the market today. There are a wide range of brands and sizes available. It can be costly to change from halogen to LED but will make up for it in energy savings in the long run.

  • When will you give me a price?

    As soon as we have evaluated the repair or installation, you will be given a price. We don’t want you to be surprised with a higher bill than expected. We charge by the job not by the hour. Unless you request additional services outside the scope of services initially quoted, what we quote is what you owe.

  • When can you come to my house?

    We offer same day service and 24/7 emergency service. We do our absolute best to get a technician to your home quickly. We believe that your time and ours is very valuable so we stock our vehicles with all the necessary tools and thousands of parts. If for some reason we don’t have the correct part and need to go purchase additional parts, the time to do this is NOT charged to you.

  • Does my television use a lot of electricity?

    Plasma televisions use significantly more power than LED televisions. Part of what you are paying for with a Plasma television is the energy being converted into heat. The more heat it gives off, the more energy it is using. Place a clean hand on the screen of your plasma television and see how much heat it is generating.

  • Can you fix my heating and air condition unit while you are here?

    We are not a national chain company that claims to do everything, but really can’t do anything. All we do is electrical repair and service– we do one thing, and we do it very well. We leave heating and air to the HVAC experts–that is their thing.

  • Why is my monthly electric bill so high?

    Usually heating and cooling appliances are the largest electricity utilizers in your home, especially when weather conditions are extreme. Energy monitors can help track usage to uncover the main contributors to your bill.

  • Can you give me a repair price over the phone?

    Since we won’t know what is wrong until we look at the repair need, it is difficult to give you a price. We pride ourselves in giving an upfront, straightforward price after evaluating the situation. There are no hidden costs with Thunderbolt Electric.

  • I have flickering lights, why is this?

    Flickering lights can be something simple or it can be the sign of a more serious issue. Sometimes large appliances will claim more electricity and will “steal” electricity from nearby lights. This can cause lights to flicker or turn off. Incorrectly installed light bulbs may be the cause of the problem. Try installing new bulbs. If your lights still flicker, it might be due to faulty wiring. To prevent further damage, contact Thunderbolt Electric for an inspection.

  • Should I install LED lights?

    You can run ten LED bulbs for the price of one halogen bulb since the average LED bulb consumes only one tenth of the electricity to power a halogen bulb. The savings over time with be obvious; however, the initial installation will require an investment depending on the type of LED chosen. In the end, you can save hundreds of dollars on electricity bills by using LED bulbs.
